I've Got Pneumonia, and Yet I STILL Look Fabulous!!

Well, I took Ellorah back to the Dr. on Wednesday, she had ran a little fever Tuesday night, and I was concerned about it, they said go ahead and bring her on in...come to find out, now her croup had turned into Pneumonia! Poor girl had to endure finger sticks, blood draws, shots and a chest xray and then we got to finally go home. I took her back on Thursday for a followup and her white count had count down dramatically, so that was great. She did get another shot, and some oral antibiotics...which she hates to take. It smells like oranges, but it's refrigerated, and she doesn't like the cold stuff. Norm and I have been tag-teaming her, he uses the syringe to squirt a little at a time in her mouth, and then spoons back in what she gags out, while I pop up from the side to blow quickly into her face so she'll tense up and swallow. We should make a video of it for "you tube". I'm sure we look quite silly. I ended up closing the blinds in the kitchen last night for fear anyone would see us. Turned out I had strep throat too, so we've been a little sickly at our house! We are both on the mend now I think.

On a happier note, Ellorah said "mama" this weekend!!!! Yes, I know, she's probably way too young to know exactly what she's saying, although I think she's figuring it out. She was in her swing while I stepped out of the room for a minute, and when I walked back in, she held her arms up, looked at me and said "mama". I almost fell on the floor! I figured she had won her freedom from the swing that day. Norm didn't really believe me, but he has since been a witness to it all weekend long! He's been plotting how to get her to say "dada" now. Also, she was 16 lbs. 4 oz. at the dr., and she has been trying sitting up....she can do a little tripod sit, propping herself up, which is really cute...and she's been crawling, rather, army crawling on the floor, in her crib, all over the place. She has a nice little quilt that her Nanny made her that we put on the carpet for her to play on and it's been hard to keep her on it, with the rolling and scooting around. We had her try some pears on saturday night too. Norm thought she might be getting a little bored with the rice cereal, so pears were her first real food. She did not seem to like them. In fact, she made a funny little gaggy face. We'll keep trying them though.

Well, hopefully we won't have anymore sicknesses to report for awhile. I'm hoping with all hope that Norm doesn't get sick too. He started his new job, and it's going great!
