CODE BROWN!!! (or yellow, i guess)

So, last night, Ellorah had some excitement...her first "code brown" in the bathtub. That is, she pooped in the tub. Yep! Norm was giving her a bath, while I was happily washing her bottles from daycare, with not a care in the world...then, all of a sudden through the baby monitor (which the base is actually in her bedroom...and he was in the bathroom, so the thing picks up quite well!) I heard him yell "oh no"...and then a frantic "CODE BROWN, CODE BROWN!!!" It was funny, b/c not two days earlier we were commenting on how she hadn't ever pooped in the tub and how good she is...and then, our first CODE BROWN! I took off running for the bathroom and there she was...she was clean as a whistle, but her tub was not...norm was holding her up and she had this look on her face like "what's the big deal, mom??" It was cute. Of course, then she started crying b/c she realized she was out of the tub, and the girl likes to soak. We got it all cleaned up though and were good to go. I fed her afterwards, and when we put her down for the night at 10, she slept until 4:20 this morning!! I couldn't believe it. Maybe a good tub pooping is what you need to get you through the night, I don't know...whatever it was, it worked...she ate at 4:20 and went right back to sleep until I woke her up at 6 a.m.! Woo-hoo! We're going to try to tackle getting her to sleep in her crib this weekend, we'll see how it goes!!

More new pics

Not much else to report, but I took some new pics, so I thought I had better share! Ellorah got her first ponytail the other day, Miss Breasy from daycare had her hair all fixed up when I went to pick her up last week...it was pretty darn cute. I'm not much on the bows and clips stuff, but a ponytail I can handle. This weekend was a busy one, we had to take the pups to the vet on saturday morning and get them all checked out and a nice rabies shot and get some blood taken for their heartworm test...I had to look away..you'd think after 9 needle sticks in the hospital and 11 hours of natural labor and then major surgery, I'd be used to the needles and stuff like that...but no, they still get to me. : ) That was our first ride with the WHOLE family in the family truckster...baby, momma, daddy and elvis and annie, and we all fit fine. We loaded Ellorah in her seat first, then I sat in the back with her to block any puppies, while Norm loaded the pups in the very back...Elvis thinks he has to always sit right by Norm and has a tendency to jump over whatever may be in his way to do so, but he was very well behaved and didn't divebomb ellorah's carseat to get to Norm. They both traveled like good puppies. After that, Ellorah got to play with her cousin Kaitlyn from California at Aunt Sam's house. I got a couple of pics, but they came out really dark, so I'm not even going to bother posting them. I'm hoping Kelly got some good ones! It was fun seeing all the kids together, and Ellorah got to meet some more relatives that she hadn't seen yet. She did really good, only cried when she was hungry or sleepy, but all in all she put up with us pretty well.

Sunday we did our usual Costco run and then to Calloways for some plants. We got a really neat rosebush called "ebb Tide"...it's a neat dark purple. (Weeks Roses, Ebb Tide) I hope it grows! Norm got everything planted, so I'm excited to see if it all lasts...I don't have the best green thumb, so it's always a struggle for whatever plants we have! We try though! Ellorah spent her time at Costco and Calloways in her sling (Hotslings) and did really well. It's working out well, and it's pretty comfortable, so much so, I ordered another one..the "eye candy"! Click on the link and you can see them. They're pretty cool!

Ellorah also got to nap in her crib this weekend and that was exciting! We're going to start trying to get her to sleep in there a little more, since she's getting bigger and her co-sleeper will only hold up to 22 pounds! She's got 10 more pounds to go before we have to boot her out of there for good. : )

Well, that's all for now, enjoy the pics!

Family Roadtrip to Austin!

Okay, so finally have a chance to update on our trip to Austin, we had a fun time, and it was nice to go and do something different and face all those challenges of traveling with a little one. Ellorah did great, all the things I was worried about did not happen, so I cannot complain. She had no major meltdowns, we got there and home safely without incident. I conquered nursing in public and I even pumped going down the highway! Hows that for multi-tasking?? Flatstock was fun, it was extremely busy, and Dirk's booth was VERY busy, I think they did really well. Norm had fun doing his salesman pitch, and showing off the baby. He kept telling people how they needed to buy a poster or tshirt so the baby could eat. hah. One thing about Austin, it is very congested traffic-wise. I know, it was especially busy with SXSW going on, but still, I thought Dallas traffic was bad! Everytime we turned around, there was another wreck or traffic jam. Ellorah did good, but she definitely does not like the traffic...everytime we'd have to stop, she'd start to whimper...but once we were moving again, she was fine. She woke up quite a bit on Friday night, I guess making sure we were still there, since she was in a strange place and all, but Saturday she slept really well...after a little fussing. We were going to try to go to dinner with Carol and Dirk, but Ellorah just wasn't having any of it...she had done so well all day, and she was ready for her bath and and warm jammies and bed, so that's what we did. Norm did run out and get us some dinner, and he even brought me some ice cream. Very nice! OH, and we have decided we need a king size bed...the hotel had one and it was WONDERFUL!!! I had my cuddle pillow, had the baby in there to eat and there was still plenty of room for all!! We only have a queen size at home, but might have to invest in a new one!!!

Well, that's all for now...oh! we also noticed Ellorah felt a little heftier in Austin, I weighed her yesterday, and she is now up to 12 lbs 2 oz! Woo-hoo! She's getting big!

No, no, no!

It's happening too fast! My little girl is getting too big too soon, I'm not ready for her to be this big yet. In the past two weeks we've had to:
1. Buy new larger bottles, after Miss Betty told us she was still hungry after her 4 oz. each feeding,
she's now up to 5 oz. each time! I've got to kick the milk production into high gear, people!!!
2. Go up to the next larger size diapers...she would not fit in the newborn ones any longer : (
3. Buy her new clothes, onesies, etc...since anything with NB on it no longer fits whatsoever...the poor child couldn't even
straighten her legs in her little footie outfits anymore.
4. And, with the help of Aunt Devon, switch her carseat straps to the next hole up on the seat!!! AAAGH!
(Okay, so I had no clue you actually had to do that, so kudos to Aunt Devon for the keen eye on that one.)

And, she rolled over all by herself, and I missed it. Yep...silly me was trying to get the laundry done while Norm was playing with her on the blanket her Nanny made her, I walk out of the room for 2 seconds and there she goes. And the little stinker wouldn't do it again!! She had done it by accident early on while we were doing her first photo shoot, but this was the first time she really put some thought into it and did it!

And, she's taken her first successful road trip to gainesville, the next hurdle is our trip to Austin for Flatstock. Ellorah has a nice hip new outfit to wear too...check it out here:
www.babystyle.com
-and yes, I really did spend $40 on it. My first splurge on an outfit for her, but I'm sure not my last. I'm sure it won't last too long, I should have bought the bigger size!! Oh well.

Well, that's all for now...I'm off to target to buy some more bigger diapers and bigger clothes...sigh...

The sleeping baby

Yes, it really does exist..sometimes, they actually sleep. Not last night, but that's a different post.
Here are some pics of this unusual phenomenon.

Sleepy baby

Mommy and baby photo shoot

So, I noticed there were hardly any pictures of me and my baby, except, of course, the ones no one wants to see or I want to show, the "sitting in my pjs all day covered in multiple spit ups and no makeup and nasty hair"...so, Norm and I decided to take a few for the memory book. He did a good job, even managed to wrangle elvis and annie for a pic or two! Check them out!

Ellorah has lots of hair...

Everywhere we go, the one comment we always hear (besides "oh, she's soooo cute") is "my, your baby has LOTS of hair"...and lo and behold, she mysteriously woke up from her nap like this...click on the link to see the photos.

Okay, really, it's Vivian's wig...she really didn't grow that much hair overnight...but, it could happen! : )

Going back to work

Well, today is my last day of maternity leave! I will officially be back to work tomorrow (Friday). It has been a fun and interesting 8 weeks. Luckily, we've already tested Ellorah out in daycare, so at least I won't be too traumatized by that. : ) Yesterday she had to go get her shots, that was just horrible. I don't know which was worse, the visit to the ER or watching her get 5 shots, and screaming up at her daddy and I with those little pleading eyes! She's up to 10 lbs. 8 oz. now and has grown 2 1/4 inches in the past 4 weeks! So, she's now 22 1/4 inches long. No wonder all those new clothes are too short. She's been doing really well sleeping at night, still waking up every 3 or 4 hours or so to eat, the other night she went from 7:45 p.m. to 1:20 a.m., so that was a nice stretch of sleep! She's smiling a lot more now and seems to really be more interested in what's going on around her, so that is great. Hopefully she'll sleep good tonight so I can get a good rest before work tomorrow (hope I didn't just jinx myself).
