She's a Maniac!

Maniac...maniac..on the floor...and she's dancin' like she's never danced before...
okay, it's not really legwarmers...it's just daddy's old socks. But it's awful cute anyway.

Little Ellorah has been quite the mover and shaker lately. Her crib has become her jungle gym, and although she is doing great on her sleep..sometimes from 8:30 p.m. to 7:40 a.m.!!!, it's a mystery to see what position she'll wake up in it every day. Sometimes on the side, sometimes up against the slats on her belly, sometimes straight up and down, kicking at the slats. Other new developments...she's been flipping over to her belly A LOT! We even found her sleeping on her belly in her crib last night...of course, paranoid mommy...had to immediately flip her back over to her back....or make daddy flip her anyway. She also tried out some delicious organic rice cereal, which she promptly kicked all over daddy and the floor, much to Elvis' delight. It was nice to have him there to clean it up, but kinda gross too, since it was mixed with breastmilk. hah. Something weird about that.

Other news, Norm tried rebuilding our fence this weekend, but got rained out...hopefully we'll get it going in the next couple of weekends. Since he had some time on his hands, he decided to tear out our cedar tree, sage bushes, gas grill and basketball goal pole...guess we have some landscaping in our future!!!

If you can't tell from all the pics...we got a new camera. I am totally loving it. It makes all the difference in the world in the photos. We actually printed some out and put some in frames...and are going to hang them on the walls! Imagine! Photos in frames instead of just the paper packs in drawers!

Enjoy the new pics...I'll be clicking away, so more to come!

Ellorah likes cereal...and other stuff.

Mother's Day

For some this is the first day that they are being celebrated as a new mother, and for others this is the day they ask simply for peace and quite. Either way it is a big day and every Mother should be celebrated.

Things have changed. It is hard to believe that my wife is a mother now. I have been crazy in love with Mistie since high school, and just as I thought I knew what true love was all about, we had a baby. True love has a totally new meaning, and it is awesome!

Everyday as I watch Mistie take care of our baby, I sit back and reflect on how truly lucky I am have her in my life. I know Ellorah thinks the same way; it is evident when she is screaming like being dipped in acid and as soon as Mistie holds her - she instantly quiets down.

Motherhood is more than having a child; it is more like having a super power. I have noticed that Mistie can withstand needles now, and is always by Ellorah’s side soothing her when she gets her shots. She can withstand the smelly diapers, being puked on, and tolerate very little sleep while maintaining a full time job, and being a great wife.

Mistie – thanks for being the love of my life, and my baby’s momma. I think the world of you.

To my Mom – (Lana Snowden) Thanks for being my Mom. After 4 months of having a baby, I know what all it takes from a parent to care for an infant. It really puts everything into perspective. Thanks for all those long nights of rocking me to sleep, feeding me, soothing me, and changing me. Thanks for always being there when I needed you, and being there when I didn’t realize I needed you. Thanks for always being supportive, even if it was the craziest thing you have ever heard. Thanks for raising me into a good human being.
I know if I am half the parent you are, then I have nothing to worry about with Ellorah.

Thanks to you both.
Love, n o r m

Happy Birthday Dad and Kellie!

Well, we have a lot to celebrate this week...on May 6th it was my Dad's 70th bday!! Woo-hoo! We threw a surprise party in his honor at the Chamber of Commerce in lovely Gainesville, Texas. I think he was a little suspicious, but we ended up pulling one over on him, I think he was quite surprised. Family and friends came from near and far to celebrate this big achievement! Also celebrating a birthday this week is my best friend Kellie! She came to dad's party too, and it was great seeing her...there are some cute pics of her and Ellorah on the link below, along with all the party pictures, so enjoy.

Also of note this week...we have moved Ellorah into her big crib, in her own room...and sunday night to celebrate dad's bday, she slept through the night! Woo-hoo!!!! She woke up once last night around 3 a.m., but I think it was from the thunder and lightning. She's getting to be such a big girl...I think she likes being in the crib, likes to be able to move around from edge to edge...it always a surprise how you will find her each time we check in on her. Last night I went to peek in on her and she was sleeping vertically in the crib, with her feet through the slats. Lovely. One more thing for me to worry about! I am loving her Angel Care monitor though...it is so nice, picks up the slightest breathing sounds, without a lot of static...and sounds an alarm if it doesn't detect movement for 15 seconds. It actually went off the other night, only b/c she had moved out of range for the sensor pad...but that is cool...I knew she was okay b/c I was already awake listening to her breathing...at least she can sleep if I can't! ; ) So I just went back in and put her back in the middle of the crib. The kid likes to move. She's also starting giggling a lot more, and has learned how to blow raspberries back and mommy and daddy. Very cute.

My Daddy turned 70!!!
