Yes I've Got the Croup, But I Still Look Fabulous!
Ellorah has been sick as of late, poor thing. It started last Monday night, she woke up almost every hour, coughing, gagging crying...and was hard to console, but then, when she was awake, she'd be fine! Weird. We took her to the dr. Tuesday morning, and they said she was perfectly fine. Okay. Tuesday, Weds., Thurs nights, more of the same..she would cough so hard she would puke, and be gasping for breath. We didn't know what it was!! Was she becoming allergic to the dogs, was I not keeping the house clean enough?? Was the it the new cedar fence bothering her?? WHAT!!?? Finally we went back to the dr. on Friday morning, and they said CROUP was the culprit. I had done a little reading before and figured that's what it was...and sure enough, that was the diagnosis. She got a little liquid steroid medicine to take each night before going to bed, and sunday night it finally seemed to help. We'd been steaming her in the shower like broccoli for the past few days, Norm even fed her a bottle in there!! Hey, whatever works. Sunday I started running a fever, but am on the mend today finally. Of course, now I feel even more guilty about taking her to daycare, b/c I'm sure that's where she's picking up the sickness. Little petri dishes they are!!! She's been coughing a lot more the past couple days, and it finally sounds like she is getting it out of her system. I am so glad. It was pretty scary. The dr. also said usually when they get the croup, they get an ear infection right after. Lovely. I'm hoping that is not the case for her!!!
