Bumps in the night

Little miss Ellorah has had a rough couple of nights, as have her parents! Not sure if it is the worth of impending teeth or what, but she hasn't been too happy sleeping in her bed the last couple nights. On numerous occasions we've gone to check on her, and she's wailing away, crawling around in her crib...pacing the rails like a caged animal...she even ran her passie along the rails like she was in jail or something. She's doing fine otherwise, just has a bit of a runny nose, so it could be teeth coming it, it is about time for them, haven't seen any yet though.

Last night was particularly trying as I didn't get into bed until midnight, then she woke up crying at 1:30! We checked on her and all appeared good, she went back to sleep for a bit, but was up about every 30 minutes after that. We tried rocking, diaper change, blanket, passie, nothing worked, except being out of the crib and having mommy or daddy old her. uh-oh. Finally, after several attempts at getting her to sleep I decided to try nursing her, so I brought her into the big bed and fed her, she did great, and even went to sleep! Yes! Success!! But, when I tried to get up and put my peacefully sleeping baby back in her bed, unbeknownst to me, elvis happened to be sleeping right along the side of my bed, so when I stepped down, I stepped right on him, tripped, fell and in the process, scratched the heck out of my back, arm and backside on the rail of our bed...only to land right on top of elvis. DID NOT DROP THE BABY! Repeat...DID NOT DROP THE BABY. Maybe I should play football or something...I did not fumble! ; ) Of course, after cussing at the dog and getting myself situated, little miss was wide awake again, and wondering what the heck her and her momma were doing on the floor on the top of the big yellow dog at three in the morning. I wondered the same thing...and finally just gave up and let her sleep in the bed with me the rest of the night. I do have some really cool bruises to show for it though! Hopefully tonight will go a little smoother...all that to say, here are some new and even cuter pics of the little one. Enjoy!

Ellorah - big girl extraordinaire...

My little girl will be 8 months tomorrow!

So yes, it's been awhile since we've blogged....and since then, my little girl isn't so little anymore! Ellorah has been busy the past month, perfecting her sitting up, eating solid foods (she's FINALLY enjoying peaches, and pears!) and just yesterday she started crawling! She's been trying to, and scooting and rolling lately, but yesterday, she really went for it and crawled! Her favorite things to crawl after? The big new colorful toys? Oh no...her favorite is Elvis's kong...or this little fish flaghlight of Norm's. She really enjoys the Kong though, and elvis seems to like to share. The other day I had her laying on her blanket in the living room while I was preparing her food in the kitchen, and elvis went into the laundry room to get his kong..and I came around the corner just in time to see him walk right over to Ellorah and drop it in front of her. I guess all those dog germs are keeping her healthy, as she hasn't caught too many sicknesses lately. It's been about a month since she was coughing and snotty, and ended up with an ear infection. Although, after hearing all the horror stories of ear infections, I'm no so sure she truly had one, as she was pretty much behaving normally...no fever, no fussiness, no trouble eating or sleeping. So the jury is still out on that one. Speaking of, we also switched pediatrician's this month! Not that we didn't like our previous one, it's just that EVERYONE liked her so much, we never got to see her....and we wanted a more one on one relationship with our pediatrician..and...she answered one question incorrectly...and that started the process in motion. : ) After Ellorah's boughts with all her sicknesses..I asked her..."what can I do to keep her healthier even though she is in daycare??" and her answer? "Nothing". aaaagh! (big buzzer sound)...incorrect answer, lady!! Not only do I not agree with that, I don't agree with Dr.'s who think that way...and she also told me to expect Ellorah to get something every 3 weeks. Are you kidding me??? Not on my watch...so, we're now going to a Dr. with a more open mind on keeping your kids healthy.....hence the name "healthy kids pediatrics". Our friends Lori and Stacy take their kiddos there too, so that is nice. We've seen her once so far, just for a check in and it was wonderful. I'm glad we made the switch.

I've also been making all of Ellorah's baby food. Not that I don't like the prepackaged stuff, but it's a lot easier than I thought to make my own, so why not?! I can be sure of what's going into my girl...and what's not. So far I've made her cauliflower, zucchini, sweet potato, green beans, sugar snap peas, summer squash, acorn squash, butternut squash, apples, pears, peaches (oh, the dreaded peaches), plums, avocado, banana and cantaloupe. She's liked everything but the cantaloupe...and the peaches and pears. She is finally liking peaches and pears though. And, Norm bought her a mango yesterday that we're going to try this week! My friend Lori says that is one of her daughter Kate's favorites. We'll see.

They've also booted her to the next room at school (daycare). It was a little scary, (for me) at first...but Ellorah is doing great. She's working on perfecting her sippy cup skills and crawling and playing all sorts of learning games..and, she gets to eat at the big table with the big kids. She gets a kick out of that.

So, that's all for now...until time, enjoy the pics of this soon to be 8 monther!
